The microsuction ear wax removal training is designed for
Attendees must work within their professional scope, governance and indemnity. The aim is to help you add a structured skill that aligns with UK practice, while continuing to work within established ENT, primary care, and emergency referral pathways.
During the practical day, you start with otoscopy and safe handling of microsuction equipment on training heads.
You then progress to supervised practice with real patients who have been appropriately selected and consented, allowing exposure to different wax textures and ear canal anatomy within a controlled learning environment.
The trainer will demonstrate positioning, depth awareness, and controlled movement. You will learn how to stop immediately if discomfort increases or the view inside the ear canal is compromised. You will practise on several supervised cases and receive feedback before sign off.
You will work with standard clinical microsuction machines designed for ear care, learning how adjustable suction levels and in-line filtration help maintain safe wax removal. Trainers will point out essential characteristics of each model like noise emissions, portability, single used canisters for ease of cleaning.
We provide training on head loupes primarily. This is the most suitable method for a beginner to use in the first instance when starting out on their journey in ear wax removal.
Learners use standard otoscopes and video-based devices for examining the ear canal / ear drum. Plus documenting findings. Appropriate case histories will be taken for each patient in line with NICE /BSA guidelines.
You will handle disposable specula, fine suction tubes, Zoellner suction pens all essential in ear care and microsuction. Trainers emphasise infection control, correct sizing, and safe handling while showing how consumable choice affects comfort and technique.
The course reviews core UK expectations for safety, quality assurance and maintenance. Trainers also provide guidance on choosing equipment and consumables. We provide all equipment packages should you wish to purchase from us.
Our training course is CPD accredited. Successful learners receive a Certificate of Training in Microsuction Ear Wax Removal confirming completion of supervised training. The combined e-learning and supervised clinical hours can be logged for CPD.
